Home Organization

You many think I'm strange.... but that's OK you wouldn't be the first :-)

But I LOVE to organize things!!!

I keep a tidy home, but I keep seeing other bloggers and people using home-management binders (which are super organized), so I thought why not give it a try.

So far I found this one...

It looks simple enough to follow, and I've always thought that a home management binder would be fun to set up.

I've already saved many of the forms to my computer, and I'm going to print them off today.

Do you use a home-management system?  If so I'd be excited to know what you use!

30-Before-30 #22 Reorganize My Walk in Closet

OK ~ Confession time...

I only put this task on my 30-Before-30 because I've been procrasting about it for way too long :-)  And I knew that if I put it on my list, I would do it, just to check it off :-)

I absolutely love to organize things....however this was a BIG job, so I was dreading doing it.

Some of the items our closet contains are:

• most of my husbands clothing
• all my hanging clothing
• all my sweaters
• my shoe collection
• all of our "construction" clothing
• my hope chest
• my husbands tie collection (well it's not really a collection...but he's a pastor so there is a tie in every shade and design imaginable!)
• all our belts
• my purses
• laundry hamper

But I did it I tackled our closet.
It took me many hours!!!

I sorted through all my clothing
(while I was at it I went through all the clothes in my dresser as well)

Reorganized my husbands clothing

Installed a new wall shelf to hold my sweaters

Installed a new track lighting fixture, so that there would be more light in our closet

Hung up a 6 peg wall hook, for my husbands "to be worn again" clothing

And I hung a cute new curtain over the closet door 

~ a door will be installed someday...but our home is a work in progress, so a cute curtain will work for now :-)

Christmas Countdown

Well It's officially here...the chocolate advent calendars were started this morning, with much glee from each of the children.  

That's right Christmas is coming!  That time of the year where we are to focus on the Birth of Christ!

So what are we doing to prepare for Christmas this year?

Well probably many of the same things you too are doing...baking, cleaning, shopping, wrapping, decorating, practising music... etc..

Specifically on today's list of things to do....is clean up the kids toys and rooms.  This is a requirement every year prior to any Christmas decorations coming out, which really motivates the kids to do it properly.

So what do we do exactly?

Well we dump yes dump out literally every toy bin in our home, into one massive messy pile.  (note, there are no pictures of this project...eek...it would be a freaky picture)   Then we sort, toys back  into the bins that they originally belonged in.  More importantly we set up two other bins that must be full by the time we are done, 1 bin for toys to give away, and 1 bin for toys that need to be trashed.

I love this time because:

A) it makes things organized (which is something I thrive on) 
B) it teaches the kids to not be materialistic 
C) it teaches the kids to think of others before themselves
